Son of Ogbomoso Laid to rest as chief Imam warns against Succession desperation
The remains of the Soun of Ogbomosholand, Oba Jimoh Oyewunmi, Ajagungbade III, have been committed to mother earth.
He was buried according to Islamic rites at about 4:30 pm inside a vault in the palace on Sunday.
The burial prayer was conducted by the Chief Imam of Ogbomoso, Alhaji Tholiat Oluwasina Ayilara who urged the contestants for the stool not to be desperate.
According to him” God has endorsed who will be the next Soun of Ogbomoso and nobody can change gis plan, fighting and killing because of the stool is immoral and I want everybody to please be calm.
Thousands of Ogbomosho indigenes and residence on Sunday besieged the palace even before the transition was announced formally.
The fear and uncertainty that trailed the news of the demise of the monarch was laid to rest Sunday afternoon when the ruling house officially announces the passage of the first class monarch.
The Gbagun Ruling House of Ogbomoso officially announced the demise of the 95-year-old monarch in a statement by Dr Aderemi Oyewumi.
The statement by the royal family reads, “With total submission to the will of Almighty God and on behalf of Gbagun Ruling House, we announce the death of our Father, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III, CON, CFR, Soun of Ogbomosoland who passed away in the early hours of Sunday, 12th December 2021, marking the end of 48 years of a glorious reign.
