Army Open Fire on Protesters, Terrorists Planning To Attack Abuja — Immigration

 


Personnel of the Nigerian Army have allegedly opened fire on protesters who came out to register their grievances after bandits killed no fewer than eight persons and abducted 17 women in Kanon Haki village, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.


The aggrieved residents had on Wednesday blocked the Funtua-Gusau Road over the bandits’ recurring attacks in the area.


Terrorists Planning To Attack Abuja — Immigration

The Nigeria Immigration Service has put its officers at various border posts across the country on red alert of a looming terrorist attack in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.


The NIS said it received intelligence from the Presidency that some terrorists from West African neighbour, Mali, want to move through the border Nigeria shares with Niger Republic border to launch an attack in Abuja.


Another Protest Begin in Katsina over Insecurity

Angry residents in the early hours of Wednesday barricaded Funtua-Sheme highway in Katsina State over alleged killings in their communities by suspected bandits.


Commuters and other users of the road said the angry residents blocked the highway with debris, including stumps of trees and big stones, while some protesters made bonfires on the barricaded portion of the highway.


Many travellers, especially those going to Sokoto, Zamfara and parts of Katsina states, were stranded and delayed for hours.


Gunmen Attack Mosque, Kidnap Worshippers In Taraba

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have invaded a mosque at Tella town in the Gassol local government area of Taraba State, abducting four worshippers.


A resident of Tella, Suleiman Rabiu, disclosed this to the newspaper, noting that the gunmen, about 12 in number, barricaded the mosque at about 7.12 pm on Wednesday and kidnapped worshipers who were observing Isha’i prayers.


Ogun pays N1bn gratuity to 340 pensioners

The Ogun State Government on Wednesday said it has disbursed N1bn to Local Government retirees between April and December, 2021.


The Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Local Government Pensions, Mrs Olubukola Adeniregun, in a statement said the desire of Governor Dapo Abiodun was to ensure the senior citizens enjoy a healthy and prosperous life in retirement.


Adeniregun was quoted to have said this during an interactive session with some members of Local Government retirees in her office at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.


Work with Amotekun to secure state, Akeredolu tells new CP

The Ondo State Governor Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has charged the new state Commissioner of Police, Mr Oyeyemi Oyediran, to work with the state Security Network Agency also known as Amotekun to protect the people of the state.


Oyediran, who resumed on Monday, visited the governor at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital.


Akeredolu urged the new police boss to be a team player and work harmoniously with other security agencies to tackle security challenges in the state.


Allow peace to reign because of my son, Naomi Silekunola pleads

Her Majesty, Queen Silekunola Naomi, has appealed to all “aggrieved persons” to allow peace to reign as she announced her separation from the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II.


The 28-year-old evangelist urged all parties involved to allow the peace of God because of her son, Tadenikawo, who the Ooni fathered.


Silekunola, who got married to the monarch in 2018 on Thursday announced that she was no longer in the marriage.
